Career Options in Aviation


Before days, travelling by airbus was a luxury and today it has been a comfort. The increasing number of people travelling by air is creating new requirements and giving scope to the expansion of the aviation sector. Apart from carrying the passengers, the airways also hold a lion’s share in the goods transportation. Increasing utilization of the air transportation for import and export of the goods also consequences the development of the sector.

The number of employees in the field has been increased rapidly in the past two decades and also a huge number of recruitments are expected in the current and coming decade. Thus, it is rather right option to choose the field as career which is not only prospective but also distinctive.

The eligibility for all Diplomas, Bachelor and Pilot training courses is passing in 10 + 2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects. Most of the courses like pilot and engineering are expensive with the cost of the course around 10 to 50 lakhs.

Required traits:

The basic requirement, apart from the academic qualification, is the physical and mental fitness. One must be above 5 feet with 6/6 clear color vision. Good communication skills, logical thinking, analytical skills, problem solving skills, good kinesthetic coordination, team spirit and mental stability are the major traits of the field. Those who are suffering from phobias like acrophobia (fear of heights), tacophobia (fear of speed) must select suitable role of the field as few roles like Pilot, Air hostess etc. need to work for hours in the air, travelling with great speed.

Career Prospect:

Most of the roles are equal ranking and give same kind of prospect in the career. One can choose Engineering or Management or Ground-staff or pilot.

The major chief recruiters are the Airline companies, Air ports, Aviation equipment manufacturing companies, Aviation services etc.

Being a Lecturer or Professor or instructor in the institutes or colleges is another option. For lectureship, one must clear CSIR National Eligibility Test.

The payment depends on the job position. A fresh Pilot initiates with around Rs. 30,000 and above per month. The other positions also offer attractive packages ranging from 1.5 lakhs and above.

Thus, Aviation is one of the best sectors providing potential career.
