and shine in it. Forensic is one of the major braches in Crime investigation. There
are several branches of forensic sciences. The technological advancement is helping
to apprehend who is actual offender. The importance for these sciences increases
in investigation area and requires more skilled specialists.
Courses and Colleges:
There are several branches of Forensic Science viz. Cyber law, Forensic Entomology,
Fingerprint Expert, Forensic Biotechnology and DNA Fingerprinting, Forensic Engineering,
Fire and Arson Investigation, Cell phone Forensic etc.
Many institutes are offering Diploma and Certificate courses in the specialized
field for those who want to develop the skill in the particular area. The qualification
for short term certificate courses is passing in 10th, for Diploma a Graduation
in any discipline from recognized college. Few institutes like IFS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
are offering these courses in online and distance modes. Department of Anthropology
of Punjab University, Deccan Education Society Law College of Pune, Gauhati Medical
College of Gawhati are few of the colleges offering the courses in regular.
The Bachelor degree program is offered by Amity University of Noida, College of
Science and Research of Udaipur, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University of
Aurangabad, Dr. Hari SinghGour University of Madhya Pradesh etc. The eligibility
is passing in 10 +2 with science subjects.
Post Graduation in the stream is available with Department of Criminology of University
of Madras, Department of Forensic Science of Punjabi University, Department of Studies
in Criminology and Forensic Science of Dharwad, Department of Zoology of Kurukshetra
University etc. The Graduation in the stream is the eligibility criteria.
Integrated Master Degree course of Five years is also offered by few like Pandit
Ravishankar Shukla University with the eligibility of passing in 10 + 2.
Further degrees are also encouraged by many universities. Doctor of Medicine (MD)
in Forensic Medicine is offered by Lady Hardinge Medical College. Fellowships are
offered in the stream for the research purpose.
Scope and Career:
There are opening for the science in several sectors. The Government bodies like
CBI, Police Department, Quality Control Bureau, CID, Army, Defense, Forensic Science
Laboratories, Courts, Hospitals, and Banks etc. provide a great scope.
In private organizations like Security Service Agencies, Detective Agencies, working
under legal representatives or law firms or practicing with self agency are few
of the prospective fields.
Apart from these teaching in any of the institutes or colleges is another resourceful
opportunity. For recognized colleges, UGC CSIR conducted Eligibility Test must be
cleared.
