According to Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering, the definition of Industrial
Engineering is, “It is concerned with the design, improvement and installation of
integrated systems of men, material and equipments. It draws upon specialized knowledge
and skill in the Mathematical, Physical and Social Sciences together with the principles
and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict and evaluate
the results to be obtained from such systems.”
What are industrial Engineers expected to do?
Often people are confused with the name of the stream and imagine work in production
in heavy industries. Rather, the course offers dealing with the fundamental aspects
of production. Managing the personnel to increasing the productivity, working on
new strategies for maximum utilization of resources, developing wage administration
programs etc. are the basic works expected.

Both the Graduation, of 4 years duration, and Post graduation, of 2 years duration,

Pass in 10 + 2 is the academic eligibility with 55 % or 60% and score in the CET
conducted by the university or score in JEE mains will be considered for Graduation.
The graduation in the stream and score in the GATE or Academic test followed by
interview is considered for Post Graduation.

Strategic planning, Product/Service Designing, Work System Designing, Supplying
Chain Management, Human Resource Management, Cashing on Communication and Information
Technology etc. are the main areas focused in the Graduation Course.

Examination is based on Theoretical and Project work examination.
