On completion of higher secondary education from the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh or Telangana, the question that pop up in the minds of students and parents is on how to prepare for EAMCET. The EAMCET or Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test is conducted on a yearly basis for the selection of candidates for engineering, medical and agricultural fields. On behalf of the state council of technical education, the test is conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH). The EAMCET test is conducted in two sessions, the morning session is for engineering and evening sessions for medical candidates. The selected candidates are accommodated into both government and private colleges in parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Mostly the exam results are declared in a period of two weeks after the test, which is quite faster.
Only candidates from the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are eligible to appear for EAMCET. The minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in the entrance test is the completion of higher secondary education from any of the reputed institutes. The subjects pursued in grade 12 should be physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology. Mathematics is compulsory for engineering while biology is compulsory for agriculture or medical fields. The minimum pass percentage is different for general category and reservation category at plus two level. The admission to various courses is only possible for candidates who have completed 17 years of age.
The entrance exam syllabus is same as the higher secondary syllabus of plus one and plus two. By acquiring a deep knowledge about the topics from physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology the student will be able to get out of the tight competition. Apart from direct fact based questions, the question paper also carries application level questions. Time can be well managed with ample practice undertaken by solving the question papers of the previous years. There are about 160 multiple choice questions in EAMCET. Each correct answer will fetch one mark and there is no negative marking. About 80 questions are shared between physics and chemistry equally while the major share of rest 80 questions goes to mathematics/ biology.
The candidates are allowed to select their language as either English or Telugu for writing the test. They have to mention the language in the application and are not allowed to change their choice in the future. For clearing EAMCET test a minimum cutoff is required. This cutoff mark is finalized, after the completion of the exams, by EAMCET committee. On passing the entrance test the candidates are called up for the counseling. The official website carries the details on the application form and fee structure. The application form has to be submitted online by duly filling the personal details and other requisites. One can choose either online method or offline method for fees payment. Candidates applying for both engineering and medical has to pay a fee of Rs 500 and for those who are applying for only one of the fields has to pay Rs 250.
