The KMAT examination is similar to all other examinations for admission to management courses like the MAT, XAT and so on. The difference lies in the allocation of time for each section. KMAT allocates 40 minutes for each section. Consider the following tips when preparing for the KMAT exam:
- Plan your time: Plan a schedule and allocate time for preparation of each subject. Do not deviate from your study plan. This will ensure that each subject is covered systematically and thoroughly.
- Solve sample question papers: Sample question papers help understand expected subject knowledge and skill set. Begin with conventional methods, but move onto shortcuts once you are confident about your subject knowledge.
- Speed and Time: Practice to improve speed as well as manage time. Practice answering each paper in the allotted time. Maintain consistency in your efforts for best results. Memorizing commonly used tables, common square roots & cube roots, conversions from fractions to percentages and vice-versa help maintain accuracy while improving speed.
- Read extensively: Reading helps in Language Comprehension section. Keeping abreast with the latest happenings through newspapers, periodicals or the internet is also helpful in the general awareness section. Through regular reading you will acquire two essential skills needed in KMAT-speed and precision.
- Practice regularly: The sections on Reasoning are deceptive. They will be simple and tricky. Regular practice using helps the candidate identify and solve the problems in this section with ease.
- Improve general awareness: keep abreast of the latest events in all fields like business, politics, current affairs and so on. Read magazines and newspapers, watch news channels and browsing the Internet in your free time. Ensure that you are updated with events and happenings of both national and international importance.
- Enhance your speed and accuracy: initially practice solving sample papers on each subject (section wise) within the allocated time-limit. Gradually solve an entire paper (model or previous paper) to check if you can confidently complete the paper in the stipulated time. Remember that speed and accuracy are equally important for a good score in the KMAT exam.
- Crash courses: Understand the examination pattern and depth of subject knowledge required by the candidate. Enrolling in a good institute during the final stages helps the candidate in managing time and solving more questions in the correct examination format. These institutes also conduct regular group discussions that are helpful in developing oratory skills. The spirit of competition in the institute helps keep candidates motivated.
- Be confident: By becoming nervousness all your preparations and efforts are wasted. Remain calm and focused throughout your examination and watch your efforts and hard work get rewarded.
- Time management: Read each question patiently and understand it clearly before attempting to answer. Answer the easier questions without wasting time confusing or difficult questions. Re-examine the paper before submission.
