About JAM Entrance Exam
JAM is a joint admission test conducted by all 12 IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) and the IISC (Indian Insitute of Science), Bangalore. An all India admission test, the JAM qualifies a candidate for admission to a joint Ph.D. dual degree, M.Sc. Program and many other post- B.Sc. Programs at various IITs.
Each participating institute organizes the exam by turns and is called the organizing institute. There is no age bar for the examination and can be taken by candidates from India and abroad.

For Candidates with CGPA/ letter grades, the equivalent percentage marks is decided by the admitting institution.
How to Apply for JAM Entrance Exam
Candidates have to apply online through the JAM official website. Exam fees can be paid through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, Bank Challan or Demand Draft. Scanned photograph, signature and ST/SC/PwD certificate needs to be uploaded when filling in the form complete in all aspects.
JAM Entrance Exam Pattern
The exam is a series of 7 papers, of 60 questions of 1 and 2 marks each. Each paper totals 100 marks each and is divided into 3 sections each. Section 1 has 30 multiple choice questions, Section 2 has 10 multiple choice questions and Section 3 consists of 20 Numerical type questions. A 1/3rd negative mark is applicable for each wrong answer.
JAM Entrance Exam Syllabus
The candidate can choose from the following eight subjects- Geology, Biotechnology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Mathematical Statistics, Physics and Computer Applications. Depending on the papers selected, the syllabus is announced by the organizing institute and can be collected from all participating institutions.
