In Uttar Pradesh for selecting candidates to engineering diploma courses an examination is conducted known as Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) or UP Polytechnic Examination. This exam is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education (UPBTE) under the supervision of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). The selection is to reputed institutions across the state of Uttar Pradesh to various engineering disciplines including diploma courses and polytechnic diploma courses. The exam is commenced, usually in the month of May in the morning and evening shifts. The positive point about JEECUP exam is the relaxation in the upper age limit for entry into diploma colleges under UPBTE.

The eligibility criteria for JEECUP is to be an Indian citizen with a pass in the grade 10 examination having a minimum of 35% of marks. Apart from this student who have completed their higher secondary education or those with an undergraduate degree are able to apply for the test. The candidates who are inhabitants of Uttar Pradesh have given a priority of about 85% of seats and the rest comes under management quota. There is no age limit specified for getting admission into various diploma courses at reputed colleges in Uttar Pradesh.
JEECUP Entrance Exam Syllabus
The entrance exam is written by the candidates who have cleared class 10th examination. Thus the exam syllabus is based on the portions from physics, chemistry and mathematics which the students might have covered in their studies. The exam is not very tough one, as its syllabus is concerned. But due to its high competition level clearing the same is not very easy. For better preparation the candidate should have a deeper knowledge about the concepts of the syllabus. Solving previous year exam papers can be of great help in cracking the test.
How to apply for JEECUP Entrance Exam
The JEECUP exam can be applied only through online mode. The details regarding how to apply and related matters are furnished on their official website. The “apply online” link will be available in the official portal, which contain all the related instructions that help in the successful registration to JEECUP exam. The candidates are supposed to read the instructions and to fill the application carefully. The payment of application is by e- Challan, net banking or using debit or credit card through online mode. An amount of Rs 300/- is collected as application fee from the candidates who are coming under the unreserved category. The candidates with reservation needs to pay an application fee of Rs200/- only. The hard copy of the application is to be retained by the candidate for future references.
JEECUP Entrance Exam Pattern
A single paper test with 120 multiple choice questions is the exam pattern in the JEECUP exam. About thirty questions come from both physics and chemistry and major number of sixty questions from the mathematics. The correct answers are given one mark each. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The final selection of candidates is duly based on the score card and the respective ranks obtained in the JEECUP exams.
