National Defence Academy Test is the entrance exam to join National Defence Academy (NDA). The exam is conducted twice a year by Union Public Service Commission. The exam is conducted in most of the major cities all over India. Academy doesn’t take any kind of responsibility regarding the exam. Candidates, who get eligible in the exam and interview, can get admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA. NDA offers several graduation courses like B.Sc., B.Sc. (Comp.), B.A. etc including Defence Application Course. Along with the academic training, candidates also get trained outdoor. On completion of the courses, candidates are sent for pre-commissioning training in respective Service academies of the wings and recruited after the training.

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for the exam. The age must be between 15 to 18 years. Class 12 is the academic eligibility for the entrance exam. Students appearing for class 12 examinations are also eligible. Candidates are expected to be physically fit and meet the physical standards.
National Defence Academy Exam Structure
The questioning type is objective type. Two subjects are tested in the exam – Mathematics and General Ability Test. Duration of the exam is two and half hours for each subject. Maximum marks for Mathematics is 300 and General Ability Test is 600 with the total marks of 900. There is negative marking for wrong answers.
Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and differential equations, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability are the major topics in Mathematics. English, General Knowledge that include the subjects Physics, General Science, Chemistry History, Geography and Current Events are tested in General Ability Test.
How to Apply National Defence Academy Exam?
Candidate must apply online through the official website. Before applying, candidate must be ready with scanned passport sized photograph and scanned signature. Fee must be paid either using internet paying services like Valid Debit or Credit card, or by depositing the amount in any branches of mentioned bank using pay-in-slip. Two steps registration method is followed. In stage I, candidate gives his general details. On submission of stage I, system provides Registration ID through which Part II of application form must be filled which includes the details of what you are applying for etc. The e-admit card will be issued three weeks earlier to the exam date to the mentioned valid email ids.
How to Prepare National Defence Academy Exam?
As the exam covers the syllabus of 10+2 and subjects of class 10, referring the text books would help a lot. Earliest preparation is suggested as the syllabus needs thorough preparation. Several institutions are providing coaching and many publications are providing exam material for the preparation.
Reading news paper would improve the knowledge of English as well as the knowledge of current affairs. Old papers, mock tests and practice papers would play key role in the improvement of time management which is rather necessary during the examination.
