About the UGET Exam
The Under Graduate Entrance Test is conducted annually by the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK). The test makes available almost 20,000 seats on offer across 14 Medical, 25 Dental and more than 150 engineering colleges across the country.
UGET Exam Eligibility Criteria
- Must have passed class 12 or equivalent from any recognized university
- Must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and obtained a minimum score of 45% (40% for SC / STOBC candidates of Karnataka).
- Physics and Mathematics should be the compulsory subjects along with any one of the following optional subjects- Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology or any other technical vocational courses.
- Candidates must have also studied English as a subject in the qualifying exam.
The candidate shall have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the MBBS/BDS course.
An important aspect worth nothing is Diploma holders not being eligible to apply for admissions into engineering courses through this test.
UGET Exam Syllabus
The entrance test is based on the existing syllabus of 10+2 / 12th STD / 2nd PUC. The portion of the paper relating to the testing of the English language is based on the 10+2 standard covering areas of comprehension, structure of words, phrases, clauses and sentences
How to apply for UGET Exam
The online registration for the UGET begins generally in the month of March. Application fees are Rs.1,200 (for candidates appearing for Physics, Chemistry and Maths) and Rs.1,500 (for candidates applying for Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology)
The exam is held in the month of May with the publishing of test scores and ranks towards the end of the month / early June.

Engineering Course - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as one paper over a 3 hours duration.
Medical and Dental Courses - Physics and Chemistry as one paper over a 2 hours duration and Biology and English as another paper for another 2 hours duration
Medical / Dental and Engineering courses (both) - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as one paper for over a 3 hour duration besides Biology and English as another paper over a 2 hours duration.
- Candidates will be tested in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry with 180 questions (60 questions each)
- Duration of the exam will be 3 hours
- Candidates will have to mark their answers on an OMR sheet
As for the marking, each correct answer will fetch one mark. There is no negative marking. In the case of a tie in the score between candidates, the board considers the number of wrong and unattempted answers in coming to a final decision.
