About UPCAT Entrance Exam
The Uttar Pradesh common admission test, shortly UPCAT is organized by the Association of Private Medical and Dental College of Uttar Pradesh for admission to various dental courses both bachelors and masters under the guidance given by honorable high court of UP. The UPCAT- dental exam is conducted on all India basis for selecting candidates to undergraduate degree programs. The test is conducted usually in the month of June. The major plus point about UPCAT entrance exam is that the candidates from all over India and also foreign nationals are given opportunity to appear for the MDS entrance test.

The students from any part of India as well as foreign students are able to appear for UPCAT- dental. A plus two pass in science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as the subjects are expected. The eligibility criteria for MDS courses require a recognized BDS from an Indian dental college or an equivalent qualification recognized by Dental Council of India along with a permanent registration in the state council. The candidates without the required qualifications should acquire the approval from the Dental Council of India prior to the application. Regarding the students with two years PG diploma, MDS admission is possible in the same specialty. The completion of one year internship satisfactorily is preferred. For foreign nationals temporary registration is granted by the Dental Council of India on payment of recommended registration fee.

The syllabus for UPCAT- dental is purely based on the curriculum followed in science stream at higher secondary level. A thorough knowledge about the topics from plus one and plus two will be very advantageous. The MDS entrance exam syllabus will be based on the major portions of the BDS course. How to apply for UPCAT Entrance Exam
In order to apply for the UPCAT MDS, application forms are available from the dental colleges of UP by the payment of an amount around 1000. The official website does carry the details on how to apply for the test. The application can also be downloaded from the official website. The duly filled application form can be sent to the Association of Private Medical and Dental Colleges of UP with a crossed bank draft for required amount.
UPCAT Entrance Exam pattern
The UPCAT- dental exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions which are to be answered in 180 minutes. There will be 50 questions each from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology. Each question will have four answer options of which only one will be the correct option. There is no negative marking for the wrong answers or for those where more than one answer is marked. A two hour single paper test based on hundred multiple choice questions fetching 100 marks is the basic entrance exam pattern for MDS courses. On obtaining equal marks in the entrance tests the older candidate will be preferred over the younger candidate. The entrance test can only be written in English language.
