The increasing number of people travelling by air is creating new requirements and giving scope to the expansion of the aviation sector. Apart from carrying the passengers, the airways also hold a lion’s share in the goods transportation. Increasing utilization of the air transportation for import and export of the goods also consequences the development of the sector. Thus, meeting the contemporary requirements many colleges in India offer several courses in the stream.
Diploma, Graduation and Post Graduation are the basic courses of the stream. There are several interdisciplinary courses offered in Diploma programs such as Aviation Hospitality, Cabin crew & In-flight Services Management, Air Cargo Management, Airport Ground Handling, International Airline & Travel management, Airport Management, Domestic Airline & Travel Management, Airline Travel & Tourism and Hospitality Management, Aeronautical Engineering.
Bachelor programs are offered as Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Technology. Master’s Programs are offered as Master of Technology and Master of Business Administration. Doctoral program is also offered in the stream.
Passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects with minimum 60% score is the educational requirement for many of the Diploma and Bachelor programs. Holding Bachelor Degree in the course is required for Master’s Degree. Those who complete Master’s Degree in the course is the eligibility for Doctoral program.
Most of the roles are considered as equal ranks and are given same kind of prospect in the career. One can choose Engineering or Management or Ground-staff or pilot. The major chief recruiters are the Airline companies, Airports, Aviation equipment manufacturing companies, Aviation services etc. Being a Lecturer or Professor or instructor in the institutes or colleges is another option. For lectureship, one must clear CSIR National Eligibility Test.
There are several position is the aviation field. Aeronautical Engineer, Pilot / Co-pilot, Airport Manager, Auto engineer, Aero stress analyst, Air safety officer, Operation officer, Design engineer, Analysis engineer, Avionics engineer, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Cabin Crew, Air Hostess, Flight Purser, Flight and Ground Instructor, Flight Dispatchers, Factor Facilitators, Aviation Psychologists, Technical author are the major job titles of the field.
